The members of the association of Swiss electrical installation companies (VSEI) believe in quality work at the very highest level. And when they present their skills, it is only in an environment which does justice to their own standards. In order to draw attention to the numerous possibilities offered by the new technologies in so-called “smart homes”, the association is focusing on one environment in particular – namely a mobile one. Instead of inviting all interested parties to a house, they simply bring the new technology to the people. This includes intelligent house technology controls with an integrated kitchen, a security and energy management system, and a charging station for e-mobility complete with a photovoltaic system and heat pump. They do this using a “double slide-out trailer”, which provides a complete overview of everything that can currently be included in “intelligent” housing. This begins at the front door. Access is not controlled by a lock and key, but using a fingerprint scanner instead.
The highlight of the VSEI trailer? When assembled, it provides a 50 square metre showroom and a 30 square metre roof terrace where you can experience the new possibilities. The main goal of the “VSEI-Tour 2017” is to recruit new talent and provide information about the profession. This is because many young people have completely the wrong idea of electricians and think that their daily work consists only of installing power outlets. The truck and trailer set-up should help change this misconception in a positive way. The truck will visit 200 secondary schools throughout Switzerland. Students will have an opportunity to control and experience the “new smart home world” on site using iPads and smartphones. There are also plans to use the vehicle at trade fairs and VSEI association meetings.
