This was a first – both for the customer and for us. And one with some substance too: the mobile ORF studio. Today, after weeks of assembly and finishing work at our factory, it is now on the road between Vorarlberg and the Burgenland. The new ORF breakfast TV show “Good morning Austria” will be broadcast immediately from this studio and thereafter from Monday to Friday. What makes this special? The studio is mobile, which means it broadcasts from a different location every day in the Alpine Republic. This is only possible due to the special design of the studio which we developed and produced in close collaboration with the radio station. The basis was two trailers ten metres long and four metres high. When joined together, they convert in only two hours into a TV studio with an area of roughly 35 square metres and two rooms, one for make-up and one for the technical unit each with an area of seven square metres. The triple-axle 18 ton trailers are drawn by two Austrian originals: MAN-Steyr tractor units each with a power output of 480 HP and complying with the EURO-6 emissions standards. In addition to various technical highlights on the interior, a number of special features are immediately noticeable on the outside. A fold-out “balcony” on the studio with an area of nearly five square metres from where broadcasts can be sent. The studio roof is also a prime location for filming and live broadcasts. It is slightly bigger than 20 square metres and fully accessible. “Our” trailers are accompanied by a mobile production control room, a satellite transmission vehicle (SNG) and a mobile office for the broadcast team.
